Description

The Blankom EMA-408 SD/HD H.264 Encoder Multiplexer is a versatile MPEG encoder with a 'cascade' facility, designed to create user-defined digital programme bundles in the DVB transport stream format. It provides output signals via an ASI transport stream interface and a configurable IP interface, suitable for broadcasting or integration into cable TV networks with the help of appropriate modulators. The device can encode up to four input signals, inserting them into an output DVB transport stream compliant with ISO13818-1 [5], reaching a maximum data rate of 214 Mbps. By connecting multiple EMA devices (up to 8), you can generate a transport stream comprising up to 32 services or integrate these services into an existing transport stream.

Via the integrated user interface, the operating parameters of the EMA-408 can be extensively varied according to the application's needs. The device's ASI input port is compatible with a transport stream signal at a maximum rate of 214 Mbps. If the external transport stream offers suitable transmission rates, the built-in multiplexer facilitates embedding of the encoded audio-visual signals per the DVB standard, ensuring the output signal includes all necessary tables, such as PAT, PMT, and SDT. A Network Information Table (NIT) will be generated, although devoid of any network-specific information. The adaptation of the NIT for broadcasting is managed by a downstream modulator.
